Actually that's the Yellow Bellied variety, Marmota flaviventris.

While I found et in Arcadia ego's exit a bit melodramatic and puzzling and interacting with him fraught with the danger of inadvertently provoking his wrath, nonetheless, I find I miss the perpetually pissed off bugger. Reading through this thread it does not appear that anyone has ever mentioned him and yet we see his nick all the time as he started the original "only" threads. I always felt a bit better when he was around because I figured he was on top of things. At least he seemed to be.

I wonder if anyone will raise a glass in my memory once I'm gone. I certainly won't make a noisy exit.

Well, anyway.... to eiae wherever he be. Peace.

I've thought of raising a glass in memory of your eyes before, does that count?

Et in Arcadia ego's exit was the longest goodbye ever. But I'll drink to that!

I also notice Et's absence, yes, he was combative and sometimes it pushed my buttons, but mostly I too appreciated his fire.

BPH, I watch your posts, and especially look forward to your input on all things art. I, for one, would notice your absence if you were to leave.

He's still here but, in the momentary absence of any particular confrontation, let me just say that 'Cuda's intellectual, auditory, aesthetic and moral sensibilities increase the overalll vitality of this place. Despite his being a really serious fucker sometimes, I'm honored to share this place with the carnivorous fish.

ps. I will make sure to put in a good word with Constantine for you during my next briefing.

It's occurred to me more than once to enter Sepka on this list. And what a perfect description of him, Perigrine.

I always assumed Sepka was a he, and still am, apparently. What is your evidence? We need some evidence.

I still think the Obama win was too much for him (her) to bear.

No, no, no, no way. Sepka was a "he", I'm as positive about that as I am that you're a "he", Mr. Ed -- if he told you that he's a "she", he lied.

He is a weasel. That's what they do.

P.S. The one I really wonder about is orz. I keep getting "she" vibes from her/him, but I'm not sure.
