You can at least watch the great Omega episode on the network site. It actually shows psychotic multiple-personalitied Alpha "switching" uncontrollably between personalities--something that's not exactly common on MSM. And I loved the music used in this episode, too--especially the old Roy Orbison song.

Wave bye to 'Dollhouse'...

Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse," pulled from Fox's schedule during November sweeps, was officially canceled yesterday, says the Hollywood Reporter.

It's a move unlikely to surprise anyone who reads Nielsen ratings, but bound to trigger flashbacks in fans of Whedon's last Fox show, "Firefly."

One bright note: The show, says the Reporter, is expected to produce all 13 episodes ordered, and Fox plans to air the remaining shows starting Dec. 4.

Damn. Not only am I really going to miss this show, but I needed it to stay on the air until I'm ready to pitch the romantic suspense novel I'm halfway through writing. It's infinitely easier (in a 5-10 minute pitch session) to sum up a complex and largely unknown or misunderstood subject like mind control when you can rattle off the names of a couple of current TV shows that have a similar premise. Most editors just aren't "fringe" enough to be knowledgeable about conspiracy topics, unfortunately...at least not the ones I know personally.

So I'm bummed in multiple ways today Anyone who's writing mind control-related genre fiction still has the Bourne movies, of course (and a 4th one on the way), but His Own Worst Enemy bit the dust even faster than Dollhouse did.

And I really, really wanted Joss Whedon to have a huge new Buffy-level hit, too. Firefly completely won my heart and I hoped that Serenity would finally reach enough viewers to either resurrect the series or perhaps begin a movie franchise, but, alas... And, while there was a strong mind control element in the storyline, I find that almost no one watched either the series or the movie, so as far as raising public consciousness or helping with a pitch session, forget it.

I didn't find Dollhouse anywhere near Firefly in overall quality, but it kept a subject that's very important to me, personally, out in front of the public. I mourn its passing.

Yeah, and we had to sit through those initial 8 (or was it 9?) episodes in season 1 before Whedon was allowed by the network to do what he'd wanted to do right from the beginning. So the shift to really original, interesting stuff came late in the first season and was so cool that I could hardly wait for season 2...and we all know how that turned out

What a shame. Wonder if anyone will ever again be brave enough to float an idea for another mind control themed series after these cancellations? How I'd love to see one set in the actual MKULTRA era

I am glad they are going to air this last season at least. They've managed to really screw up my Friday nights nights with the termination of Dollhouse and Terminator: SCC.

Well, it won't help with Friday nights if you lack a DVR/TiVo, but if you do have one (or an old VCR), you could record Fringe and watch it whenever you need a mind-control-related media fix. While it lacks the risque sexiness of Dollhouse, it is talking openly about MKULTRA this season and has main characters who are survivors of the mind control programs--both perps and victims. And one of the perps is played by Leonard Nimoy

Anyone interested in mind control on TV might want to tune in tonight for a 6-hour 3-night remake of The Prisoner in miniseries form on AMC at 8PM/(7 Central). (Apologies for putting it into this thread, but I couldn't find one on general mind control program associated media)

Scytheon is running a project called "Mind Whisper". The project uses active architecture so they can make a neural radio. Boyd informs Adelle, who tells Boyd to leave it alone. Topher believes this technology will make all the minds in "Mind Whisper" become one. If Anthony is not rescued before he becomes a part of the group, he will be lost forever...

You can't miss the reference to 'Valley of the Dolls' film released in December 1967, again in 1969, and on television in 1981.



The theme of women hurting themselves on pills and booze served perfectly to reinforce the cover story of the murder of journo Dorothy Kilgallen who told friends she was going to bust the JFK murder wide open.

Anyway, cell phones do something to turn people into relentless killer-zombies and the usual story about a besieged crew of assorted still-humans having to murder everyone follows...
