Re: What constitutes Misogyny?
If you want to reserve your judgment on possible acts of misogyny until you can "establish a baseline for the way context is analyzed" (??) and have heard from all parties involved that's fine with me. I'm going to move right along though.
As far as any continuation of discussion about this goes - count me out. I'm bored with it. Know why? Because it's boring.

With the power imbalance, as a rule, women are already finely in tune with the male perspective, it is necessary for our survival.WUaL wrote:I am calling for perspective from both sides of the story, not saying that only women need to look at it from our perspective, I should have made that more clear from the get go.
I've told you 3 times that your call for perspective is not appropriate, it's not a rational or workable approach (to put it nicely) but you're not listening to me. I am so surprised.
Your intent has been quite clear to me since your earliest interjections, to delegitimize the voices of women, by requiring that we look to some outside authority in order to determine if we've really been hurt or not. Yes, that's a misogynistic point of view, it's also an anti-social justice point of view. All oppressed groups seek to reclaim for themselves the power of naming.WUaL wrote:I want to state that this isn't the first time I have felt like because of my sex I was labeled as a misogynist in this thread, specifically because of comments like this that group all men in the same category. I like to think I am equally concerned about the growth of identity for both male and females, hearing this multiple times in this thread makes me wonder if my actions do not match my intent.

Just FYI, that clip is part of a campaign produced by the Chicago ad agency Element 79 for Gatorade sports drinks, utilising wire work and CGI to achieve the effect.Project Willow wrote:

Christ Cuda, why can't you just listen to how she feels about the clip?barracuda wrote:

I was just a Trotsky. But barracuda? Christ he is totally with the party line.
Not just the obvious one that Misogyny is horrible and needs greater awareness,
but the one in this thread of monologue over dialogue and Men can't contribute to this
thread critically at all without suffering labeling and harassment.
I tell you barracuda was a good party man. Send us to the gulag with the furnace man, but him no.
Or is it just because he is a good party man who dared bring up a inconvenient
truth?
Please, please tell me that barracuda isn't included in this Asshole(s) group?Assholes.

No - I am kind of an asshole. It's not a major revelation, actually.brekin wrote:Or is it just because he is a good party man who dared bring up a inconvenient

See! How can you send such a true believer to the gulag?

Spare him his inquisition, his momentary lapse of truth in this thread
must be overlooked.

You seem to find most people who disagree with you inferior when my guess is most of them (definitely not all of them) probably are the least misogynistic people you could encounter in real life.

Sad, but even more fascinating. Are you sharing PW's take on barrcuda's post about the reality of the ball girl clip?
I honestly didn't infer any negative motivation on his part. Did you? Most of his posts are a deeper follow up on a source.
That makes him an asshole? Even after he apologizes and self flagellates for his supposed misstep?
This is truly bewildering. I assumed the way this thread was going it would need a steady supply of people to accuse and denounce, but I thought
it would take awhile before the inner circle would be selected.
Ironic, Project Willow, you have no qualms about negatively labeling others on the board (misogynists, etc talking about board members here not people you've mentioned in your life who are obvious ones), categorizing them into a backwards women experience negating caste and dehumanizing them (assholes) all the while feeling you are the ultimate authority on a subject in which your opinions are absolute. I'm not talking about your personal experiences of misogynism, in which you are the ultimate authority of course, but how it is perceived and affected by others, both men and women, for which you can't be the ultimate authority. Do you see the difference?(brekin...Trotsky? Don't flatter yourself, you're white army, or no, no, let's be up to date, you could be a Promise Keeper.)
