Moderator routine?

Post by DrVolin »

So what do you do when you log on in the evening? Check the warnings on the moderator panel? I am trying to develop an adjusted RI routine to be an effective moderator. Any advice from those with more experience would be much appreciated.

I might check the moderator forum for any discussions, look for alert symbols (little triangles next to subject lines) in GD, then head over to the more contentious threads to stir the pot. But everyone probably has their own ideas about it.

All good ideas.

I'd also add: don't let moderating cramp your enjoyment of the board as a poster and a reader. If you ever find that happening, I'd rather you throw in your badge and remain contributing members. (And that goes for all you mugs.)

Little triangles eh? That's a helpful bit of info. Thanks.

Okay, just to give you an example, I've flagged a post here:

Don't take it extremely seriously. It's pretty much FPO.

Thanks for the sample. For me it shows up as an exclamation mark in a circle. Hard to miss. I'll check out the screens it brings me to.
