Paalanen plays the accordion in many famous folk music groups like Hehkumo, Hyperborea, Kiharakolmio, Trepaanit and the duo Turkka ja Paalanen. Duo’s album Halituli won the Etno Emma award in 2006. Trepaanit, Hyperborea and Hehkumo have also been nominated for Emma award, which is equivalent to Grammy award in Finland. So I went and saw Nirvana at Reading in '92. But they weren't the band of the festival, that honour goes to these guys, first band on in the morning when most of the audience had been up all night and were somewhat....altered. They blew everyone away and this was the first thing they played:

after everyone else had retired

and danced by myself

to janis joplin (and big brother and the holding company)

as she sang

piece of my heart

The real issue is that there is extremely low likelihood that the speculations of the untrained, on a topic almost pathologically riddled by dynamic considerations and feedback effects, will offer anything new.
