RI feature reminder: yes, we have "ignore"

Post by Jeff »

Though unfortunately, it's called something unfortunate.

On your User Control Panel, under "Friends & Foes":
Manage Foes

Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. Personal messages from foes are still permitted. Please note that you cannot ignore moderators or administrators.
As much as possible, myself and the moderator team try to maintain an open board within the context of the posting guidelines. It's a convention guaranteed to infuriate many members at one time or another, or a few members many times over, but IMO it's the fairest, though hardest, way forward for the board.

Members who frequently find themselves infuriated by another's contributions should consider whether the "foe" function could make their RI experience more palatable.

Although you'd think this noisy, stupid, intrusive, cluttered world has seen most of us develop an internal 'ignore' function anyway. Like looking at a page of search results, a newspaper, a magazine rack, a sale table of books...

nope nope nope okay nope nope okay nope nope

Would somebody PM me with whatever Norton just said, I'd like to read it.

I'm too nosy to use the ignore feature.

I'm disappointed that you would encourage such willful ignorance.

Anyone who suspects this thread might be secretly about them is probably right.

Out of mind...out of mind.
How else are going to learn from other usernames with other information or viewpoints? Called "discussion."

But if you really can't keep from going into a disruptive ad-hominem spittle-spraying rage attacking other usernames....then "ignore" for the sake of the board. Please. Because that's not discussion. That's just censorship-through-bullying.

I know that 'UFOs From Outer Space' is a fascist psyop but I don't go into personal attack mode on every UFO poster. Which includes Jeff Wells.
I present my case as part of discussion. And then Jeff stops me from doing so. :)

Which is why it is colloquially known as "The Ignordic Button".

Daggonnit, frowny emoticon,
I edited out things I meant quite sincerely to assist the 'lets get on with it for the sake of the kidz'-vibe.
