Navy vet reports odd sighting in New Hampshire

Post by Rigorous Intuition »

Man reports a UFO sighting on Seacoast

July 26

EXETER - There was something odd reported in the sky last week, something that caused a Navy veteran with 10,000 hours of flight experience to have his own close encounter.
The former flight engineer, who wished to be identified only as "David," said of the experience, "this was like nothing I’ve ever seen before."

What the retired Navy chief petty officer said he saw last Wednesday could only be classified as a UFO, an unidentified flying object.

It was a bright and sunny afternoon, about 3:15 p.m., and David was outside preparing his lawnmower. He had filled the mower with gas, checked the oil, and took a sip from a glass of water he had poured. When he tilted his head back to get the final sip, through the bottom of the glass he saw a large cigar-shaped object hovering in the sky.

David said windows were equally spaced around the object, however he didn’t see anyone or anything inside. The size of the object was enormous. By comparison, he said, consider what an ultralight plane would look like next to a Boeing 747. He said it was about the size of two USS Nimitz aircraft carriers.

At first glance, through his empty glass of water he thought it could have been the Hood blimp. "But, the instant I put my glass down, I said, ‘that’s not a blimp.’"

The object moved from west to east, very slowly for something that size, he said. His initial instinct was that the object was moving at about 100 knots, but something that big shouldn’t be able to stay in the air if it’s going that slow, he said.

The object began changing colors from a bright silver to an orange-ish red. A strange cloud of red and orange flames began surrounding the object, and before he knew it the object stretched out like a rubber band. It grew to about twice its original size, and then it was gone.

The entire incident lasted about 10 minutes, he recalled Monday morning, but he is unaware of the specific time because, "it felt like time stopped."

He went into his house and first thought to call the police. He decided not to because he didn’t think they’d take him seriously. So he went on the Internet and searched for "report UFO," and found the Web site for the Seattle-based National UFO Reporting Center.

Peter Davenport, director of the UFO reporting center, said David’s report was astonishing because of his history with flight. "I have no question on his reliability."

He said he gets several accounts each year, but this one stood out. The report was well written and scientific, Davenport said.

...

The Exeter area is no stranger to UFO sightings. In 1965, two Exeter police officers and hitchhiker Norman Muscarello, who was with them, gained national attention after seeing a UFO hovering over Route 101 in Kensington. The sighting was documented in a book called "The Incident at Exeter."

...

www.seacoastonline.com/news/hampton/07262005/news/54688.htm

Edited by: Rigorous Intuition at: 7/27/05 9:16 am

I wonder if he saw something like this:
www.rense.com/general67/ufoph.htm

Long silver cigar shaped thingy.

A good friend of mine saw a cigar shaped flying thing back in the late 80's in the Badlands of SD.

I should show him the photos on Rense and see if it's at all similar to what he saw.

that would be one of the big ones then.......
believe i've read of a witness years ago (possibly the jal japan airlines pilot?) who used 'the size of a couple of aircraft carriers' as his descriptor.....

Sometimes i think we should take a much closer look at neuschwabenland, and how much kit they managed to get down there on u boats, and how many ships did they send there in all before the war, and did they carry on during the war.....etc

in a few years time.
rich in detail as they say
the thing with the glass is nice as it wouldnt have been crucial to the sighting.
The SIZE of the beast makes it really hard to argue for earth manufacture, unless i missed some major scientific discoveries

"The object began changing colors from a bright silver to an orange-ish red. I tend to think the object on the Rense page could be a weather balloon. They can develop very odd shapes in higher altitudes and the 'flashing' was probably the sun bouncing off the silver skin as it rotated.

I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem that odd to me.

However the description from the naval gentleman seems definitely to qualify as 'odd'. Note the 'Oz Factor' as recorded by Jenny Randles of time 'seeming to stand still'.

All the best UFO observations seem to have this element of the 'other' about them don't they?

Ellie

the rense pictures does look like a weather balloon, and yes atmospherics can do amazing things.
But thats also a "neat" factor in the original story, this is a navy man,he knows what a blimp looks like in the sky and even mentioned something like "at first i thought it was the hood blimp" with the hood being a ship if i recall right (its a famous historical ship name anyways so).

the "time stood still" is interesting, but, this is a common human feeling when strangeness happens?Like in a accident or so,i have experienced that feeling in a accident and i had "time to spare" in the few seconds of fall to think and act.

Maybe i should of explained why i found the description of the crafts "exit" so interesting instead of just posting the links. It has to do with one of the theories on how faster-than-light travel would be possible without breaking the laws of physics (as i have this from sci-fi "culture" i had hoped someone would look at the links and come back and post..hey thats faster-than-light travel or so)
If the universe is infinite in size, with a infinite amount of "points" where one can be in this space. How does one travel from point 1. to point 2. at the other end of the infinite universe without infinite travel or infinite energy needs. You cant logically,UNLESS you stretch "yourself" out (at one point in the universe) sothat you fill the whole of the infinite universe, you are then at ALL points in the universe. If you then "shrink" yourself you could chose ANY point in that infinite universe as your destination. You havent actually moved or wasted what we call "regular" energy or time.does this make any logical sense?

"The most commonly-cited causes of redshift are:

1. Movement of the source.
2. Expansion of space (all of space?see wiki)
3. Gravitational effects.

food for thought for me because of the stretching of the object to twice its size and *poof*"

If we look at the red-shift page elaboration on "expansion of space" there is the little gem:

"These galaxies are not believed to be receding; instead, the intervening space is believed to be stretching, which is subtly different."

This is a anomaly in red-shift "theory" if i understand correctly, these galaxies ARE redshifting but NOT moving away from us,the current way to explain it is the mind-boggling quote above.
Its not moving away from us,the space inbetween is stretching.
Weird science?
magic?

follow up story

UFO saga continues

EXETER - There has been a considerable response to Tuesday’s article in the News-Letter about a recent UFO sighting. Interested local residents and skeptics joined UFO enthusiasts commenting from throughout the nation, and reaction was even received from a French "Ufologist" who recalled two similar sightings in Europe.

Yann Marchandin, the French "Ufologist" who contacted the News-Letter via e-mail, said there was a similar UFO sighting in Poland in 1997 and another in 1999. In both incidents, witnesses claimed to have seen large "military ship-sized" tubes, or cigar-shaped objects in the sky.

She said this recent report, by an Exeter man who wished to be identified only as "David," was very interesting to her because of its similarities to the two other sightings and also because of his military and aviation background.

There were also those who questioned the recent sighting. If the object was so large in the sky, why did nobody else see it, many asked in e-mails sent to the News-Letter.

Last Wednesday, July 20, David reported seeing a silver, cigar-shaped object around 3 p.m. that he said was roughly the size of two aircraft carriers. It changed colors to an orange-red before stretching to twice its original size, then disappearing.

David is recently retired as a flight engineer with the U.S. Navy and has logged more than 10,000 hours in the air.

Contcted this week, David said he couldn’t explain why he alone saw the UFO, and he even asked several of his neighbors if they saw anything odd that day. No one had, he said.

He still has several houses to check, as he lives in a neighborhood with about two dozen homes.

The Exeter Police Department said there were no reports that day, or since then, of a UFO sighting. Local Federal Aviation Administration officials could not be reached for comment.

But Peter Davenport, director of the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle, said there are various reasons why no one else witnessed what David did. David submitted a report to the reporting center shortly after his encounter.

Davenport said that perhaps David was in the right place at the right time. Also, the object’s technology could have been so advanced that it might only have been visible from where David was standing.

David’s report will soon be available for public viewing at the center’s Web site at www.nuforc.org.

www.seacoastonline.com/news/exeter/0729 ...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p097.ezboard.com/brigorousintuit ... n>Rigorous Intuition at: 7/31/05 8:20 am

A similar sighting reported in the area

Post by Rigorous Intuition »

East Kingston woman reports second UFO sighting

Aug 2

EAST KINGSTON - It’s happened again. An East Kingston resident said she saw a "silver-cigar" shaped object in a daytime sky last week.

This time it was a homemaker who, like the first person to give an account of witnessing an unidentified flying object, wished to use only her first name, "Lucienne."

The sighting allegedly happened about noon on Monday, July 25. Lucienne said she was standing in a meadow behind her house on North Road when she saw the long object in the sky. She described it as a pill shape, because it had rounded ends and was longer than it was wide. Dark spots lined the object, which she said appeared to be windows.

Lucienne said the incident lasted about 30 seconds, and she didn’t have time to run into her house to get binoculars. When she saw the object she yelled for her husband, but he was too far away to hear.

This report comes about a week after a 48-year-old Navy veteran claimed to have seen a similar object when he was in the back yard of his home in Exeter. "David," as he wished to be identified, said he saw the object at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20. He provided a detailed account to the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle.

Lucienne said she didn’t read the first article in the News-Letter about David’s account until Wednesday, July 27. When she read the second article about people questioning the validity of David’s account, she contacted the News-Letter because, she said she believes, she saw the same object in the sky just days after his encounter.

Like David’s account, Lucienne said that, before the object disappeared, it stretched out to about twice its original size. But, unlike David’s account, Lucienne said the object did not change color, and she did not see any flames under the object. Also, the "windows" on the object did not extend to each end; rather, each end of the object was solid and without windows.

Lucienne wrote down her observations so that she’d have documentation, but she had not submitted the information to UFO authorities as of Monday.

www.seacoastonline.com/news/exeter/08022005/news/55742.htm
