A simple google search reveals the origin of the term, and no, it was not coined by a leftist. It is label they use about themselves. If it has become pejorative, it is because many people find what it represents, um, deplorable. Epstein's trending has been cyclical, with a downward trend that had started two - three weeks BEFORE Pizzagate was trending in late November. The interest in Epstein actually grew again around the Pizzagate peak, which was December 5th, but this is more visible when looking at Epstein data in isolation, as Pizzagate was huge in comparison with it.

Interest over time
Numbers represent search interest relative to the highest point on the chart for the given region and time. A value of 100 is the peak popularity for the term. A value of 50 means that the term is half as popular. Likewise a score of 0 means the term was less than 1% as popular as the peak.

Viewers, make sure to display graphic so that you see the right edge and the spikes in November. Better, follow the link and do the drill-down: Nov. 6-12, it's Epstein over Pizzagate, 13-2. Following week, Nov. 13-19, it flips to 3 for Epstein, 15 for Pizzagate.

By the way, when doing a comparison, it also displays the relative interest in the given terms. Which is to say, the higher peak among the two in the comparison is set at 100 for that comparison. Thus if you set timeline for All since 2004, peak for "Jeffrey Epstein" peak comes in January 2015. That point on the Epstein lines displays on 100 if it's only that term, but at 36 if Pizzagate is thrown into the comparison and is set at 100 in its peak of November 2015. So yeah, these numbers can be compared directly.

I won't even call it a certain causality, because there is rarely such a thing. There are many noisemakers. The correspondence can't be denied. Very interesting graphs JackR. Interesting how #Pizzagate occurs in the wake of an Epstein blip of activity and continues as Epstein drops back to almost nothing.

If anything #Pizzagate has created a perceptual aura where Epstein is associated with the Clintons and Democrats and removed Trump and the GOP from pedophilia in high political places.
