To change the laws you have to work in a corrupted system. Members of Congress who take corporate donations are sheep. Those who refuse corporate donations are leaders.

Re: The RI thread about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
So she "introduced" a lot of bills. I would hope so, given that this is her job.
Has anything come from any of these introduced bills that we should know about?
What I haven't seen from AOC are any successful attempts at using her position to organize any effective opposition to the corporate Democratic party line. Did I miss this?
And yes, I love that she does not take corporate donations. But she gave donations that regular people gave her to corporate Democrats.

Let's see you knock on doors, get elected, and do better. Tell me how you would change the laws.

I would at least try to be the "organizer in chief" that Sanders promised. WTF happened to that great idea?

Yep, yep... rollover- gatekeeper Sanders. I'm still allowed to express my opinion still, yes? Though we're getting closer and closer to ...wait! I see it now; Hate speech© wrongthink! Of course you'll disagree with my view of Sanders because Jimmy Dore has influenced my thinking on him a great deal. And we know exactly what you think of Dore. Besides, Sanders is a needle in a hay stack. Maybe 300 or more in his ballpark, may help the poor, disenfranchised, and working poor. God knows no fucking body else is looking out for us. or going to save us. It's now the Super rich predator class vs a divided working poor. Fuck Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and her crew too btw! Face it Elvis, THE WHOLE GOVERNMENT IS ORGANIZED CRIME. And you know it.

I've barely seen Jimmy Dore—maybe watched three episodes. I don't care about Jimmy Dore or what he thinks.Grizzly wrote: And we know exactly what you think of Dore.
Now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is in the mafia?
Jesus Fucking Christ.

You like in a brutal materialistic empire that does nothing but blow the shit out of people to steal their stuff. No politician will ever stand up against that.
So whats better. To do nothing while the poor of your own nation starve and get sick cos medicine is only for the rich??
If that's your attitude. If you think its that bad, why aren't you doing everything you can to destroy your country?

It can no longer be denied that this person -- along with her handlers/Twitter content managers -- is a dishonest actor. Or otherwise a fool, a perpetrator of increased divisions and schism among the citizenry. In this latter regard she's no different than many other 'representatives'.
Any earnest 'leftist' or 'liberal' aligning with this person, at this point, is also a fool, or self-deluded, or a (not so) closeted hate-filled person.

The divide and conquer gambit is in full effect and AOC is at best a pawn and at worst a more dangerous piece on the chessboard.Belligerent Savant » 19 Mar 2022 15:36 wrote:.

God, this thread is so full of shit.
Have laws been passed that ban teachers talking about slavery and racism in schools in Texas, lest their universities lose funding? Yes, damn it. It's sick. And now it's divide and conquer to object? What is up with your FOX-level obsession with every tweet AOC posts?

I'll say it once more: I don't watch Fox. I don't watch "news" on TV.
You're not stupid, and yet you take the outward words in these tweets at face value -- though even at face value they're highly flawed and divisive -- and apparently see no underlying issue.
She's a fraud. A dishonest actor. One of many in politics, though for some reason she continues to be viewed by a certain demographic as a "difference maker" (and that she may well be, but not in the way her adherents believe).
You can continue to shoot the messenger here. Go ahead. Do what you do.
It doesn't change what's clear for anyone to see.

It's the same on both sides, Jack, and you know it. Sure, it's sick to ban books and ideas in all cases and to criminalize individual's choices about their own bodies in all cases.JackRiddler » 19 Mar 2022 23:06 wrote:God, this thread is so full of shit.

But AOC is all aboard the train to ban the dissemination of any ideas that she personally does not like, just as she is all aboard the train to criminalize any dissent of government policies that she personally likes.
She and the Republican zealots who are so obsessed with her every move are like the yin and yang when it comes to the issues of free expression and bodily autonomy.

As stickdog mentions, both establishment parties are overtly full of shit at this point -- and this demonstrably includes AOC.
It's a fucking farce to talk about 'book banning' when she, and her party, are zealous advocates for all manner of censorship over the past 2+ years.
The example tweet above is but one example of the use of certain 'signal' words to elicit reactions that maximize and/or exacerbate divisions among people/classes.
Again, she's certainly not alone here. Par for the course in politics.
