Re: Coronavirus Crisis: Main Thread
Wow, the situation in India looks really bad. As in potentially worse than it’s been in any region since this all started. I imagine it’s getting more coverage internationally than Brazil has as of late (Indian families in the UK etc). People dying on the street in front of hospitals, not enough basic medical supplies, to say nothing of available beds and nurses. Massive undercounting of cases and deaths, basically all the worst results of this coming to fruition.
“Not that bad” of a virus though right?
What am I missing here?

Re: Coronavirus Crisis: Main Thread
In truth I was totally pissed, as in inebriated, so feel free to discard and ignore. I was projecting nothing, but assuming much. Call it an intuition. Discomfort (disturbance) is the least of your problems and may even be a wake up call wherever it occurs, but please feel free to ignore.dada wrote:Harvey, I feel that by the implication that I'm derailing, coupled with the list of troll behaviors, was belsav's way of accusing me of trolling. Since I'm not a troll, I shrugged off the accusation with a flippant response. That you then felt the need not only to criticize the, in my opinion, totally-warranted-in-the-context flippant response, but to do so by projecting your personal assumptions about my relation to higher power, I guess I find it a bit disturbing.
Not that disturbing, though. But I thought you should know how I feel about the exchange.

Re: Coronavirus Crisis: Main Thread
So you were drunk-posting and picked a fight with me, but my finding it a bit disturbing is my problem. I see. Also, you shouldn't take this as a wake up call, but I should. Because I made you get drunk and act out like that, I guess.
This isn't Japan and I'm not your boss, so getting pissed isn't an excuse for trying to be hurtful like that. Which is what you were doing by trying to twist my image of the divine into something dark, I think. Luckily, my image of the divine is untouchable inside my imagination, so perfectly impervious to these pathetic gambits.
I'm saying any gambit is pathetic, so don't bother. If you're hurting, which I think is what you are telling us here basically, I get it, and I have compassion for you. But don't try to drag me down along your ride, it is a waste of your time and energy., and mine. Maybe think about getting some help.

Both his words and manner of speech seemed at first totally unfamiliar to me, and yet somehow they stirred memories - as an actor might be stirred by the forgotten lines of some role he had played far away and long ago.

Re: Coronavirus Crisis: Main Thread
As I said, I was incredibly drunk at the time. Not an excuse so much as the proximate cause. I'm having a hard time construing anything I said as hurtful but that was certainly unintentional, if so. It appears part of me was feeling unduly didactic and patronising. I'm also an incredible arsehole, as I've confessed a number of times and which might also be a factor. But, if I have the power to accidentally hurt you from afar then I do apologise. I've been hurt accidentally (from afar) and hurt many times deliberately in close up (one of my earliest memories is of being beaten unconscious) so I don't bruise as easily as some might. That said I certainly can feel pain and have no wish to inflict it unnecessarily.dada » Sat Apr 24, 2021 11:10 pm wrote:So you were drunk-posting and picked a fight with me, but my finding it a bit disturbing is my problem. I have also learned that pain is one of many teachers.

No, I said you were trying to be hurtful, but it was a pathetic attempt to do the impossible, that naturally failed miserably.
It does pain me to see you make an arse of yourself like this, though. Not the making an arse of yourself per se, but that it is such a poor, little arse-making scene you have presented us with. Like one of those situations where the arse picks a fight with the wrong person, a much bigger arse out of their league.

Re: Coronavirus Crisis: Main Thread
Oh relax, conniption. We're just having a bit of fun, blowing off some steam. This thread is miles long, I think some side-trips can be allowed now and then. I respect Harvey immensely, otherwise I wouldn't bother getting into it with him.
Same with anyone else I get into it with, actually. Even globalist illuminati narrative-pushers! As long as there is some intelligence to engage with, I feel it is worth the effort.
But yes, the thread topic. Terrible what is happening in India, as thankyouberrymuch pointed out.
What else is there to say, though? I'm at a loss. Maybe better minds can come up with something to figure out this mess. I hope so.
You know what I've noticed, the atmosphere here at Rigorous Intuition feels alot like the general atmosphere of the NYTimes. Dispatches from the lonely, isolated society.

Re: Coronavirus Crisis: Main Thread
Is there any evidence that death rates are any higher in India right now than they were in the USA a couple of months ago? I am just wondering about this. I have no idea where to obtain the best available data on the COVID-19 death rates (or that average age of all COVID-19 related deaths) in India? Do you?thankyouberrymuch » 24 Apr 2021 17:22 wrote:Wow, the situation in India looks really bad. As in potentially worse than it’s been in any region since this all started. My 84-year-old American friend living in India flew to the US for vaccination, and considering the latest developments, has decided not to return to India quite yet.
I know he's just an old man who's "going to die anyway" but I think his decision is the correct one. He has a busy, productive life. He's not expendable. He's not up for sacrifice to the alter of "liberty."

Who is suggesting any such thing here, or frankly, in most venues? This continues to be a poor strawman argument, a distortion, and also a continued ignorance of the core issues in contention since 2020.Elvis » Sun Apr 25, 2021 6:22 pm wrote:He has a busy, productive life. Also, those that continue to passively accept establishment narratives, figures, or Google/Network News feeds on covid, more than 12 months in -- within this forum no less -- are not worthy of another [wasted] typed word.
Proceed with whatever storylines help pacify you. Good luck with it.

I just don't get it. Seriously, the culture is foreign to me, I have no idea what is implied in the post above. What does it mean? I'm genuinely curious.
It reminds me of the Donkey Kong players. They all have this lingo they speak together. Inside jokes, jargon, it's like another language. I used to tease them, say they were a cult. Most of them hated that. The Donkey Kong players that took themselves very seriously.
