Hey there! Long time.
Two quick things.
After service above and beyond, Project Willow's turned in her badge as moderator. Deep thanks to PW for everything. RI owes her lots, and I owe her even more.
Second, I need to get active here again. And that's not just the guilt talking. I miss it, and all of you. So I'll be hanging around more. Expect me. (I don't mean that to sound ominous.)
Er, that's all for now.

Yahoo!!
I came across something recently at the unlikely intersection of Charles Fort, Christian Fundies, NASA, deep politics, meme spread - all sorts - that I thought "Would *love* to have Jeff's take on this..."

Well, thankfully we still have DrVolin's steady hand.

My phone government tracker has ruined me, everytime I go to post something i want to speak my text instead of write it. Anyway, welcome back Jeff! I hope that this includes your pithy and spectacular writing and blog posts. As far as having technological remorse, I thought you guys might be interested in, 'Catching Up With the Unabomber. Re: Hey there! Long time.
Thank you to Project Willow.
Thank you Jeff for RI.
I knew Gil Murray for 20 years when he died. We met when he was the TA for the first forestry class I took at Cal in 1975. We were both Cal Foresters and California Registered Professional Foresters. He was a good, kind, and fun man with a wife and family. He had just started a new job in replacing the retired Bill Dennison. He opened a package addressed to Bill Dennison.

Gil Murray’s life ended twenty years ago today. He was the final victim of the Unabomber Ted Kaczynski. Gil was a Registered Professional Forester and leader in the California forestry profession. When I first met him, he was head forester for one of our local competitors. He was later hired to lead the California Forestry Association, a promotion that led to his death. Gil was deeply respected in the forestry community as a man of the highest character. I tip my hat to Gil Murray.

@ pufpuf93 et, al
And I too. He sounded like a gentle soul. Such a loss.
I certainly empathise with the loss. My post was certainly not intended to cause any negitive feelings. And I do apoligise if it has. I was more interested in the in/outs of the message and quite intrigued by there NOT being a modern 'philosophy of technology', etc...

That would be awesome. Even if you do it in an ominous way, it'll still be awesome!
