Strange girlfriend stories
I started the post about sleep paralysis and it reminded me of this old girlfriend. I'll call her Lynne, because that was her name. I doubt that will be enough for anyone to identify her.

She was troubled, for sure. As we first found each other, she was secretly drinking...a lot! She moved to L.A. and I ended out there as well so we got reunited in a way but by then she was in serious alcoholism crisis. In fact, I took her to an AA meeting from which she nipped out for a few minutes...to buy a bottle of sleeping pills which she consumed before coming back to the meeting. Ah...young love.

So she had issues, I'll grant you that! She'd been mentioned in the other thread because she was having so many bad things happen to her that I just felt like she was under some kind of "psychic attack." Let me explain that I have always had interest in these sorts of things but almost always from a purely intellectual perspective...I did not usually try in any way, magical or otherwise to either communicate with or banish other entities or spiritual forces or whatever. But in her case...I don't know, thing just always felt wrong. It was an attempt to help by telling my monk friend about this that may have led to his "demon" experience in the sleep paralysis thread.

Lynne had some weird savant abilities, though she had no other symptoms of autism which usually accompany such. She was able, instantly, to tell you how many syllables you had just uttered in a given sentence. And it was instant. She could do the same with musical beats.

She explained that whenever someone spoke, she'd see a kind of graph in her head. The curve of the graph would rise or fall with the tone of the speaker and was made of a broken line, with each dot of the line representing one syllable. At a pause, the number of syllables would simply appear on the top of the graph. Multiple speakers resulted in mutliple lines on the graph that were different colors or different shaped dots...I can't remember. '

This may have resulted from some abuse, although she never could recall any. I think I'd read that retreating into such number and pattern play could be an escape. In fact, she'd had other periods of almost complete incapacitation where she'd have to write down the steps of the most simple things: Walk to door, turn knob...etc. Part of her incapacitation came from being "attacked by numbers". When things would get bad, she'd be overwhelmed by noticing patterns and connections among numbers everywhere: license plates, signs, whatever.

She used to have EXTREMELY elaborate dreams with recurring "characters." In one, a man, somewhat older and I think in a suit, would give her "lessons". I don't remember their content and didn't understand when I did remember. Stuff about the various levels of reality on which we live. Another dream is that the people who sent here here from wherever (that was an ongoing theme so I will simply report it as she did) were very upset with her for not bringing them enough "souls" (I don't know if that's the word they used.). She was severely punished in these dreams for this failure but was never sure on waking exactly what she was supposed to be doing that she was failing to do!

Another dream was of the alien abduction type though I don't think she'd read much about that and I've not ever heard this particular story (the general idea, yes, but the details were unique to my experience.) She's in a room, rather bare. What's there is made of metal. She gets out of bed and the bed disappears into the wall. There's some sort of shower apparatus that comes out and rinses here. I guess she's naked. She steps out to the door (or maybe there's not a door) and it turns out she's in a HUGE complex with many such rooms...many stories high. There's a device, I couldn't help but think of those rotisserie things they put hot dogs on, that had babies...many many babies. One was given to her and she was to comfort it...and I think got in trouble for spending too much time with it. That's all I remember.

Now the baby holding is not unique. I've heard this story before. However, I don't know how common those stories were in 1989, but they may have been around. But the huge complex and the "baby rotisserie" (what an image!) I've not seen described elsewhere.

All right. So she moves to L.A. and is pretty much bonkers. She gets a job at a "psychic hotline". Sure, it's a scam though the first group of people she worked with mostly believed they were psychic.

I don't remember the order of these next two events. One thing that happened was that she was called by a woman whose mom had been murdered. Lynne gave her a reading. Lynne said she was the murder scene in an office but that it also looked like an apartment...and, in fact, it was the office of an aparment complex the woman's parents ran. She said she saw the murderer as a white man who lived there and had asked for a job from her parents. The woman said, "No, all three men the police have in custody are black."

Later the woman called back. She'd told her father this story, and at first he was upset. He was a devout Catholic or something and thought this was sinful. Who knows. But as the woman related Lynne's reading, her father said, "Call her back." There had been a white man who lived in that apartment complex (the only white man who lived there, I think). He had asked for a job. He'd left right after the murder. Eventually the police from that city called Lynne, though I don't think she had much more to offer. They told her they weren't allowed to give her info on the progress of the case so we never heard anything else.

Okay, that's just to suggest that maybe she had some talents. Now, the last part is odd and maybe just some crazy lady. A woman from the hotline called Lynne and said she was actually recruiting for a government program. They were interested in her abilities, though strangely she focused on her ability with numbers and also with "animals" (I never saw any evidence of special abilities with animals but Lynne felt she had some.) The woman said it was a secret program and had to do with helping AIDS patients or something, I'm not sure. I just remember that the woman's description of the program made no sense BUT it encompassed all of the things that were important to Lynne, particularly AIDS as she'd had a good friend die from AIDS. I'm sorry I don't remember the details of this woman's "offer" but, again, it struck us both as odd because it sounded as if the woman (who never really spoke to Lynne at work and I don't think showed up at work after that) was simply saying things that would be appealing to Lynne in order to rope her in.

Of course, the woman could simply have been nuts.

Okay, make of that what you will. I'm sorry I've lost touch with Lynne and I hope she's doing well out there! I just wondered if anyone saw parallels or significance in any of this or if she's just mentally ill (not that the two are mutually exclusive!).

Hyperlexia
You walk around in daily life, and interact with people, and then you read accounts like this and realize that consensus reality is a really fragile and useless concept at times. Other peoples' minds are such undiscovered country.

Look into "hyperlexia" regarding Lynne. It's a condition where someone has an intense fascination with letters and numbers. I have a friend whose grandson exhibits it.

hanshan, thanks!

That link you left is amazing. It "links" a lot of things together. I've only read part of it (I'm returning to it right after this message) and it reminds a bit of thoughts and feelings I had while reading Levenda's book, "Sinister Forces". In a word: "coincidence". What IS coincidence?

Thanks Dreamsend for starting the conversation.

Jeff...be sure to read this
This is fantastic stuff, in all senses of the word. Jeff, be sure to read this if you haven't. I haven't finished it yet but it sure has an authentic feel in the writing style and if it's genuine....it really touches on a lot of relevant stuff. If anyone knows anything about the author, please do post it.

still reading
Yeah, I found her bio and website on my own. Nowhere did she ask me for money or to buy her books and that is encouraging. Her current blog entry makes me think she's lost whatever lessons she's learned, however, as she simply goes on about how she's so driven and never enough time in the day. I don't know, I guess these experiences fade.

She's hooked up with the remote viewing crowd, which might be interesting to look into. I know the original CIA study or defense department or whoever it was rather chock full of scientologists. I know that people from that program are now selling books and tapes and I don't have too many opinions at the moment, but I have a "yellow flag" out...not so much for her, but for who she got involved with...and they may all be completely legit. Anyone know about remote viewing, particularly the network of guys selling books, going on talkshows, etc?

OTO
Hmm...now she's talking about how she had a vision of the letters OTO and she "discovered" that they are a secret society and that several people on her forum were already in it, as was the initial guy she hooked up with. Her friend "L." says that Enochian magic is really about aliens (jeff has suggested just the opposite, I think.) I'll keep reading, but my yellow flag is still up. Here experiences sound very real, but I'm still cautious of the company she's gotten herself hooked up with.

Thanks, I discovered that a little while ago. I haven't had a chance to read it straight through as I should, but I've dipped in and out of it and find it has the ring of truth about it. (In the sense that she's not simply making shit up.)

Edited by: Rigorous Intuition at: 7/19/05 9:09 pm

A review
Hmm...this thread got turned into a discussion of the online book by
Palyne Gaenir. That's okay. It's a fascinating read. Here's a summary and some thoughts.

Palyne has just about every type of experience that gets discussed on this site. They start (I can't begin to describe these experiences.....most take place in dreamlike states though some odd things intrude on her "real life" as well. The dreams are vivid and have many recurring elements. They start out as rather metaphorical, seeing angels and the virgin Mary, then drift into fairly typical "alien abduction" type scenarios. She is often being given "lessons", usually which can't be remembered consciously. Palyne is ambivalent about these experiences. She's had some really negative ones but mostly sees them in a positive light, with occasional musings that maybe they aren't positive after all.

In addition to the alien stuff, she starts getting messages about "OTO" and here I get a little bit suspicious. Most of her story is so rich in detail, even when the details aren't flattering to her or are contradictory. While she is being given "secret" information (and even attends a "secret school of dreams", she doesn't always feel this makes her special. Sometimes she just feels dumb in the presence of these entities.

But around the time of the OTO stuff I thought I detected some false notes...and I'm not dismissing the rest of this because of it, but here's what I mean. She is, during all of this, actively engaged in online discussions with the "New Age Forum" on Compuserve. She's discovered on this forum a friend named L. who claims to be a "walk-in" not, of course, meaning a closet, but someone whose current soul or identity entered the body sometime after the body was actually born. For awhile in the narrative, this explains a lot to Palyne, though she kinda drops this theme. However, it turns out that L. is into...well for sure "Enochian magic" though she never actually says he is OTO himself.

Okay, so she sees the letters OTO in a dream. Then she goes all, "Gee whiz, I found out this is a secret order like the Masons." Then she starts finding that she is having psi experiences where she is corresponding online about topics she has little knowledge of. She gave the example of Aleister Crowley. What I found a little jarring was her continual "Gee whiz" explanations. In this case it was sort of "wow, and it turns out OTO was started by Crowley! Who knew?" The quotes are mine, by the way, not from the text. It's a REALLY long text! I'm not going to do a detailed analysis.

So all these experiences are pulling her towards OTO and she actually finds and joins a chapter (several of her online buddies privately tell her they are members.) Still, the alien theme is coming through fairly strong and her friend L. tells her he thinks Enochian magick is actually about aliens.

Now, if you haven't read the text, the interesting part is her descriptions of dreams and other realities she enters. Without those descriptions, and just from this little summary, you'd think there's just nothing to even consider here...she's just metaphorically visiting every "shelf" in the "alternative reality" bookstore! So you need to read the thing to get the flavor of all this and why it's compelling.

She continues to wonder aloud if these entities are "good guys" and decides that even if they are "bad guys" if they help her "evolve" that's cool with her.

Well, we've left out two things: mind control military tie ins and Satanic ritual abuse. Yep...that's in here too. She has several dreams with military types involved. One in which they work hard to do things to her that will invoke fear in her, usually by torturing a woman in front of her or inducing hallucinations (if that term even applies within a dream experience). The one of the spider on her chest always gets her she says. But she provides a detail that, like so many, seems inconsistent and yet the fact that she provides it adds some element of believability. In this case, she says she often chooses to "fake" being scared earlier in the process to get it over with and the fact that she's faking it makes no difference, and they go on to the next stage which is staging a scene where someone reveals information about military/alien conspiracies and then he's taken out and killed! Subtle!

As for the SRA: I want to quote that whole passage. This is definitely triggering, but if you are easily triggered, please don't visit RI anymore! To be safe...a few blank lines though:

Quote:
I found myself in the midst of a heavy magickal ritual. There was a man, he was like, the highest ranking in the group in some way. He had a girl, about five years old, and he was preparing to initiate her. Like via what amounted to rape. I knew this was not allowed -- and that it would have some shocking effects on her, psychically -- and I silently pleaded with the others in the room to say something to him, to make it stop. My sense was that I could not interrupt the ritual, nor could I interfere with his will, though a couple of people in the room who were equal to him could, if they desired. Nobody said anything. He was just determined to have her no matter what. He was obsessed with her... for some reason. The energy in the room was thick and powerful.

He took out a large knife and he held it to her throat, fully intending -- as per the initiation ritual -- to slit her throat if she cried out or screamed (and she knew this). She was pale, blonde, small of course. He took off her clothes while she stood there sort of frozen in fear. He laid her down on the ground, and putting the knife against her throat, he pulled up his robe, spread her legs, and a bit gently but very seriously raped her. She clamped down on her lower lip with her teeth, her eyes closed as she grimaced in pain, and beads of sweat formed on her brow, and her skin got even whiter. She remained silent and stoic. When he was finished, he stood up, and then he stood her up. Someone brought a black robe that they put on her. She swayed, but was silent.

Then we all adjoined to another room, like a social room. There was food everywhere, and everybody was eating and talking. I was still thinking about the event. Then the door to the ceremony room opened and the man brought her out to present her to the group. It got silent as death in the room. The little girl stood there quietly, looking defiant and far too old for her age. One of the people in the room said something to the man like, "You know we have to kill her now." And the people in the room one by one commented something in agreement. The sense was that this initiation would create in her energy that would be horrible for her throughout her childhood life, because she wasn't old enough to deal with it, and that her events and trauma, because she had been made part of the group, would be something they would all be subject to effects from.

When the time came for me to say something, I said, "I'll take her." Everybody was shocked. They couldn't believe that I would take responsibility for her -- it was a big job, and a hard road, and it would sort of put all the effects and responsibility in my hands, rather than distributing it to the group. I just felt I had to; it was the right thing to do, and I wanted her, and I wanted her to survive this. I had that right of claim, and I took it.

o0o

When I awoke, the first thing I noted was that the initiation has zero in common with Order stuff that I'm familiar with. There is no sex in any early-level OTO initiation (contrary to popular belief). So I wasn't sure where I got such heavy duty magickal symbolism. I had some distant sense that the girl was me, or a projection of me.

I will simply not that she says "There is no sex in an early level OTO initiation. While taking up the cause for the girl, she also doesn't say that raping her was wrong, simply that it will harm her psychically.

A quick look through the DSM will show us that this woman has EVERY mental illness in there and there is simply not one condition that will explain all her anomolous experiences. Some elements, such as blanking out for periods of times only to find she's done things she doesn't remember sound like multiple personality stuff. She clearly has numerous panic attacks in the story. Throw some sleep paralysis in there...and add the most vivid dreams you've ever heard.

Some elements of her story look like she's actually being controlled by others. She dabbled in hypnosis, so one can assume she's dabbled with hypnotists. Every night during the 2 years that were so intense, she falls asleep instantaneously (within 4 to 20 seconds) and always prefers sleeping in a reclining chair as opposed to her bed. If she won't get in that chair, she generally doesn't sleep at all. She's drawn to the chair and the "falling asleep" often feels more like someone pulling her down.

She's had experiences that felt as if someone was beaming things at her...hearing oscillating sounds, etc. She also relates that during one stretch her sleep took on a different quality...it was immersive with no dreams and felt as if it was "induced" somehow by technology.

And, of course, her experiences themselves are certainly suggestive of LSD trips or something similar.

Finally, she feels compelled to leave California and much of this activitiy dies down when she leaves that state.

We also have her current association with Remote Viewing. She evidently works with Russel Targ of the original remote viewing program. As I noted above, The RV program had scientologists heavily involved. So we have Crowley showing up in a couple of ways. First, her "compulsion" to join OTO (and she has become very obsessed with Crowley as you can easily see). Then we have the Remote Viewers and the Scientology connection. RI has pointed out, as have other sites, that L. Ron was a follower of Crowley. I can't say exactly what her connection to Targ is, except that she's into remote viewing and has him listed under a list of friends' web pages.

She's also been heavily influenced by the "Seth" materials, channeled some years ago by Jane Roberts. I know little about this material so someone else can fill us in on that. However, she has a long section where she comes to find that she lives "many lives" at one time and that is a Seth concept, I think.

I don't know what to make of all this. I suspect that she may be a victim of some MKULTRA nastiness, though none of this seems to have harmed her, really (though the SRA scene hints at more). Who knows.

It's almost like there were two groups of "controllers". One was the Seth camp and she was given experiences of living multiple lives simultaneously. Then there was the Crowley camp and she learned a "geometric language" which turned out to be like his "angelic" and was "crowned" by the entities after being initiated into OTO.

I'd be curious to know if she still is part of OTO and I may actually ask her. I'm going to read her blog a bit first.

If you've got the time...go read this thing.

a quick correction
I made a crack about Palyne having every affliction in the DSM. Rereading it, it makes it sound like I'm arguing she's nuts. No, I was trying to suggest no conventional diagnosis alone could account for all this, which I do say later. However, in looking over the post, the tone didn't come off sounding that way.

Re: Strange girlfriend stories
Back to your original story...
What it reminded me of a bit, was the movie "A Beautiful Mind". The mathematical abilities, noticing patterns and connections that nearly incapacitated her, etc. And I want to ask, did you hear the second phone call take place, or did your friend tell you about it? Just like in the movie, Nash thought he was being asked to do something by the govt. that matched his abilities and interests - but it was only a part of his mental illness.

I do believe paranormal things happen. And it is possible that experiencing extreme paranormal things could drive one crazy, too! How do you begin to untangle what is causing what? We're told people who hear voices are crazy... but are they all the time?

I met a man who is a genius in the field of physics, a professor at a well known university. He was attending seminars at -- I can't remember the name right now, but I thought it was the Perkins Institute in Virginia but google is not showing the website I have been to in the past to verify this man's story, sorry -- anyway, the seminars helped people communicate with beings from different levels of existence by using sound tapes to get people into different levels of consciousness. The people who attend these seminars also report having success in remote viewing. He completely believed in what was happening at this institute and reported to me that these beings would come to some individuals, much like your friend reports about her dreams. He played a tape for me that he had gotten from a phone answering machine with a message for him, in a voice that was like nothing I had ever heard. I have no idea if the tape was for real, but this man believed it was. He had many strange stories to share about communicating with these different beings - some were supposedly the souls of people who had once lived here, but some of the other beings had never lived on this earth, but interacted with the earthly realm - according to this man. He claimed that they gave some humans unusual mathematical abilities, and used humans to do their bidding on earth - which reminds me of your friend saying she wasn't doing something her dream visitors wanted her to be doing. Many people from this institute claim to "channel" these other beings at time - I saw some of their stories when I was able to go to their website, I'll keep looking because I think it would interest you.

I don't know that I'm writing anything helpful or coherent here, but the point I was wanting to make is that your friend's story did have some similarities to other stories I've been told or heard of - and could be the result of mental illness or something far beyond what most of us consider in the realm of possibility, but a realm none the less.

I found it and it's the Monroe Institute.

Here is their website.

This is the technique used to produce brain patterns that I tried to explain:

Hemi-Sync® is a trademarked, state-of-the-art audio technology based on the natural functioning of the brain that encourages coherent brainwave activity. Our brains produce waves or patterns of electrical activity. Different patterns indicate different mental states, such as rest (occipital Alpha), deep sleep (central Delta), meditation (central and frontal Theta), physical activity (wide-spread Beta).
