Not BPD
Bipolar disorder sufferers lack control over their responses and actions.

By contrast, the "mood swings" of people like Rumsfeld and others in the Bush administration are purposefully designed like the actions of an abusive parent or spouse, to keep those over whom they have power guessing- off-balance and in their thrall.

That's what's interesting about so much of their rhetoric, which can glide from honey-sweet platitudes and conciliatory gestures to veiled threats and venomous hate in the course of a few paragraphs.

Mindwar.

I don't think Keith Olbermann is a shill, but he's suffering from the tendency of many predominant liberals to buffer a situation, to offer a patronizing diagnosis instead of cold-eyed realism. Therefore, the character of the Bush administration is "stupid" or "emotionally disturbed."

If so, how is it that they keep getting what they want?

Edited by: robertdreed at: 9/29/06 10:45 am

Re: Not BPD
BPD isnt bipolar disorder, its Borderline Personality Disorder, which is actaully a mixture of a few different disorders that place it somewhere between a neurosis and a psychosis.

Some symptoms:

-Extreme emotional callousness
-Pathological lying
-Inability to process anything but the most extreme emotions
-Undermining the identity and perception of their partner (called Non-BPDs)
-Not being aware of their own actions
-Inability to have long-term relationships
-Inability to process their own emotions
-Suicide Threats, actual suicide in extreme cases
-Self-defamation, Self-mutilation in extreme cases
-Extreme Partner Abuse
-Substance or Alcohol abuse
-Chaos engines
-Dictatoriality
-Extreme Manipulation
-Extreme Projection
-Rage episodes
-Covert Emotional Terrorizing

This one is very ugly. Theres alot more symptoms.

There are so called "high-functioning Borderliners" who may seem like they can reason and even be able to hold a job for a while. It is only when one looks very closely and listens very carefully to the person does one realize that their brains do not function like a non-BPDs.

Edited by: 4911 at: 9/30/06 1:53 pm

FIM disease
oops, shot my mouth off without viewing the clip, or even reading the article...

That's actually pretty much in concord with what I said, though. The worst worsts of abusive personalities tend to be borderline personalities/sociopaths. Although I would argue that proffering a medical diagnosis doesn't go much further toward solving the problem than calling them "monsters."

It's what people do about it that counts.

Word to the Congressional Democrats- giving an abuser only half of what they want is not the answer. They'll simply keep coming back until they get it all- at which point their demands will escalate.

Edited by: robertdreed at: 9/29/06 7:34 pm
