I know c2w will give me heck for this, but I admit...I was big Alex Jones listener from 2005-2007. And checked out his sites near daily from early 2005 til this year. But it's clear as ever his sheep brigade are almost as ignorant and mindless as the Glenn Beck/Fox/Rush crowd. Ever seen the comments on ANY of the "news" postings on prisonplanet? Its enough to make one vomit.
However I just feel in good conscience I can't be party to the AJ pied piper train to nowhere. Not a new occurance...at first I really was extremely offput by AJ's bombastic over the top manner, but the information he was presenting was so unusual and refreshing to me at the time having just seen "Martial Law 9/11: Rise of the Police State" in march 2005.
However, something always bugged me, and I never truly felt "at home" with the milieu of right wing "down home" gun waving Christian conservative patriot rhetoric.
But the top things that just do not sit well with me at all:
1. His periods of intense anti Mexican xenophobia. People can try and spin it, but it was straight out of the pages of Stormfront and far right supremist websites. Anyone who remembers listening to AJ in 2006/2007 knows what I'm talking about. He would always say we're being "infested", and would quip about "filthy hordes of immigrants". He weighed in saying, the fate of America depended on stopping the tide of Mexican illegals. But often, the tone would become more against Mexicans and immigrants in general
2. His omnipresent gay bashing. It's not as prominent as the late 90's and early 2000's, but it's there. In late Oct 2008 he posted an article calling Arnold Schwarzenegger a "shill for the NWO" for Arnold's support of gay marriage. He continually would have "Christian ministers" on saying how hate crime laws infringe on their right to hate gays. He's remarked how gay adoption and gay parents are evil.
3. His full commitment to shilling for climate denial, and the right wing "global warming is a hoax". I'm sure he'll now say Naomi Klein is on "his side" for speaking against Copenhagen. AJ makes it sound like we should all live in rooms filled with carbon dioxide. Why isnt AJ speaking out about the environmental disasters created by the "NWO" that fuel climate change?
4. Not letting anyone get a word in edgewise and beating them over the head with a mallet. I remember one time he had Sibel Edmonds on, and he kept berating her and berating her that "9/11 was an inside job, right? " Like "say it bitch, say it!!!" Same crap pulled on Daniel Ellsberg.
AJ then was not very nice to Henry Rollins, Dwight Zappa's son, and a number of other guests who didnt kiss his ass or believe exactly what he believed. It's like if any caller disagrees, he's verbally abusive beyond belief and chewing his head off.
5. AJ is a LIAR. And I don't just mean cherry picking news articles to twist into something else, therefore tainting the very worthy cause he's claiming to fight for. I mean every time he's wrong(which is quite often), he'll twist it/change his story. It's beyond satire at this point.
He continually bashed William Cooper, but now says he's a hero.
He continually covered up the garbage he pulled with Genesis Network in the early days, and various physical skirmishes he got involved in.
And how can AJ claim to want to restore America to the founding fathers, and then the next week claim the Founding Fathers were child sacrificing Satanists? You dont make sense AJ!!!
6. He reminds me of an abusive step dad. Always on edge, hot tempered, paranoid as fuck, almost seeming like he's got a hand raised to knock you senseless.
7. His bullying in person. I met Alex Jones at the "9/11 Truth Conference" in LA. Even just informally talking over drinks at the hotel bar, AJ seemed confrontational, smug, bombastic and not very nice.
He berated an old Native American woman(who had to be near 80), humiliating her for simply asking some benign question in front of 1200 people. He made sure non huckster 9/11 researchers who showed up didnt get a chance to speak, and instead gave a lot of time to a whole host of no planer crap. I asked Michael Berger, a really nice guy, why he wasn't speaking...he remarked as I saw him in the lobby, that AJ didn't like how he wasn't following the program.
Then AJ proceded to tell the audience of allegedly permanently injuring some guy who is now bedridden, trying to show what a tough guy he is...then a few minutes later going into a Glenn Beck faux cry mode at all the children suffering in the world.
8. He claims to be the flagship leader of the "9/11 Truth movement", but he has completely lead a pied piper red herring of extremely controlled memes. When 9/11 first happened, he was more sensible. He continually hammered home the point that Islamic terrorism and radical Islam was a proxy of the elite agenda, intentionally stoked and provocateured. Then later he changed the story to "no Muslims terrorists involved, all 100% military industrial complex with Bush, Cheney and Larry Silverstein".
When's the last time AJ had Paul Thompson, Daniel Hopsicker, etc on?
He continually insisted certain people were in on 9/11 that absolutely had nothing to do with it, and then would later back off certain claims. Loose Change guys did this too, claiming such an such cop/official/family member was "in" on it. Totally uncalled for crap. He'd push as legitimate "witnesses" to standdown orders and "a uav hit the pentagon", fake whistleblowers he knew were fake.
9. No AJ, I don't think every child should own a gun. Running commercials every few minutes giving away free guns and saying every kid should have one is not very responsible
10. The Sept 11th Charlie Sheen stunt this year. How he can have ANY listeners after this is beyond me. He claimed all week he had the most earth shattering 9/11 whistleblower that will change the landscape, and everyone will be talking about it. It turned out to be Charlie Sheen and a fake interview with Obama they presented as legitimate.
So yeah...I don't know what AJ's issue is. The fact that Glenn Beck/Fox News/Rush hate him doesn't make *him* on the side of good.
And sorry, Ron Paul isn't the "key to restoring America".
I think the number one reason I stuck around so long, was because of his aggressive anti war views...at the time I didn't feel even the liberals in the alternative media were hitting the horror of the Afghan war or all the other stuff as much as he was.
Anyways, I don't mean to step on anyone's toes who may be a fan...but there's some serious issues with him.
Also, I finally happened upon a David Icke article from earlier this year that sure mentioned "Jew" and "bankster" a lot in the same breath(it was written by him on DavidIcke.com around early January)
So crap...not sure what "conspiracy speaker" there is to respect these days.
