Great stuff guys. I think the bigwigs have been furiously busy deciding what to do with the situation. To not interfere wouldn't occur to them, I suppose. At least they might offer Mubarak a nice residency.
Meanwhile the BBC ums and ahs about it all, and talks of the Muslim Brotherhood and so on. I was waiting for over a week listening to Aunty Beeb describe the dangerous violence in the streets and nothing else. They are obviously in idling mode, awaiting spin directions. One particularly astute reporter told me that, "the people on the streets seem to be angry with the government," no mention of what they are angry about, or what their demands are, or their actual grievances. Well, once or twice they were saying how a badly faring economy was to blame, and youth unemployment and so on. They might have even once mentioned a relative lack democracy. So plenty of heat but little light shed by the Beeb, as usual. That is what they seem to specialise in these days.
Ah, but then this morning eventually I heard a protester being interviewed clearly laying the blame on Mubarak's fawning support of the war mongering US and Israel, and saying how he must leave the country before the demonstrators will leave the streets.
At last, a little light!

But its a very dangerous situation, I do hope Alice is alright. Mubarak don't seem in a rush to leave, does he? I hope calmer voices prevail and he draws back from his threat of "chaos."
