Well, if you haven't been to "my" thread (i.e. the one I started) and you are using my comments as "data" (you apparently don't know what "data" means in a quantitative, as opposed to qualitative or ethnographic study), then I guess you would be guilty of cherry-picking your data. Or at least a poor literature review..

Re: PW, I'm not going to get into a he-started-it/she-started-it argument because I'm not your errant child and I don't owe you any explanation. But a careful reading of that stupid gender thread would be illuminating as "data".

Why is it that when I've invited women here, 4 out of 6 declined specifically citing the hate speech towards women on display? Women are half the population, and sometimes in the communities most closely related to this forum they make up more than half of the participants. Is hate speech : low participation :: correlation : causation?

Might be thin skin bro. I don't know why you want to keep this conflict going, but patterns being what they are and all.....

I would like to see some citations of all this virulent hate speech that comes from this forum. I'm not sure what the deal is with your insistence that RI is a bastion of virulent women haters but it isn't true. I have been reading this forum since 2005 and this forum is not a haven of women haters. Why are you so obsessed with painting RI as a woman hating place? That might be a better question.

What do you need? All men, supposedly of which you are one of, to admit that they all suck and hate women or what?

You remained parked on this issue at all times seemingly practically. I"m starting to wonder why you are not out working at a women's shelter instead of trashing RI. This is a little bizarre but i'm not gonna smoke my mind on it anymore. I parked on it for a little bit to defend Rigorous Intuition but evidently this will continue.

RI is a suck hole swamp of woman haters...I swear........ :eeyaa

As we allow or even support racism, sexism and other such evil nonsense, then RI veers closer to domination by a culture of "Good Old Boys", whether or not every last member is straight, a dude, or what have you. The meta-message is to exclude marginalized groups and forward-thinking, liberatory opinions- and to help turn R.I. into a place that truly does support Oppression.

This is one very good reason that Jeff has always guided the board away from such hateful, stupid shit.

I've spilled way more ink here for wealth and income inequality, Occupy, global warming, police brutality, and probably even flying saucers than I have for equal rights. Now's just a good time as any to figure out why women won't post here.

You are the best oppression supporter I have ever seen so carry on with it. Evidently they are going to let you wreck this joint.

Now's just a good time as any to figure out why women won't post here.

There is only a very small hand full of people in the world that understand the world as well as some RI people do so maybe you need to find some people interested and capable?

If I had not read this forum since 2005 I would write off the comedy but it sux to watch yall scream and moan about how mean RI is to you and watch this happen to RI.

That is precisely why I'm happy to let a frequently contentious conversation run free.

I'm curious, too.

I also wonder where RI's males skew on the autism spectrum. (Not intended as an insult or even a joke.)

That's the question I've been waiting to ask in the gender thread. If the poll can be taken as roughly accurate than there are a mere 15% of the members here that identify as female. One more voted this morning.

Is this place really that unfriendly to women? If it is then I guess I am more clueless than I thought. Rarely do I see straight up hatred of women here. Lunkheads with no clue? Sure. But out and out hatred? I don't see it. If anything it seems to me this place is somewhat more respectful of women than most. I mean go check out Gdlkprdctns. Ugh. That's setting the bar pretty low, I know, but still.

Ladies? Is it really so awful around here?

Maybe the level of discourse just isn't sophisticated enough?

I really don't know. :partyhat

Is it conceivable that women in general aren't as interested in conspiracy theory? Or the topics that generally get the most attention around here?

Here are some autism tests. Maybe time to get a new poll thread going, yeah? :starz:

The gifted program thread "speaks to" this by itself, though.

Yeah, it's definitely not on every thread…we cover way too much ground here and the nature of most subject matter disallows personality from necessarily playing a role. But if one uses our great search function here to research a subject, and that subject is women's rights, it doesn't look too great. Jimmy Savile, methane, Franklin, Gladio B — sure there will be some division over small nuances, but for the most part this forum puts its heads together on subjects like those.

This place overlaps neatly with my interests or defines them. But up until the recent spate of "Rise of the Warrior Cop" and police brutality threads, I had to go elsewhere to talk about race or women's issues.

Look up the statistics of gender by occupations and areas of interest and you might discover that there might be a difference and that the Rigorous Intuition forum is not to blame for it, although apparently some people wish it was RI's fault.

Yeah but it real life, women love the RI bread and butter just as much as men. I don't think it's the subject matter.

Someone just reminded me of this 147-page behemoth in PMland, how could I forget? viewtopic.php?f=8&t=31392

Do they? When I think about it I have to say that's not my experience.

I guess that depends on what we classify as bread and butter. Organized abuse, environmental pillage, the paranormal, peace, philosophy, egalitarianism - that's the kind of stuff I was thinking.
