Wow, the situation in India looks really bad. As in potentially worse than it’s been in any region since this all started. I imagine it’s getting more coverage internationally than Brazil has as of late (Indian families in the UK etc). People dying on the street in front of hospitals, not enough basic medical supplies, to say nothing of available beds and nurses. Massive undercounting of cases and deaths, basically all the worst results of this coming to fruition.

Harvey, I feel that by the implication that I'm derailing, coupled with the list of troll behaviors, was belsav's way of accusing me of trolling. Since I'm not a troll, I shrugged off the accusation with a flippant response. That you then felt the need not only to criticize the, in my opinion, totally-warranted-in-the-context flippant response, but to do so by projecting your personal assumptions about my relation to higher power, I guess I find it a bit disturbing.

Not that disturbing, though. But I thought you should know how I feel about the exchange.

In truth I was totally pissed, as in inebriated, so feel free to discard and ignore. I was projecting nothing, but assuming much. Call it an intuition. Discomfort (disturbance) is the least of your problems and may even be a wake up call wherever it occurs, but please feel free to ignore.

As I said, I was incredibly drunk at the time. Not an excuse so much as the proximate cause. I'm having a hard time construing anything I said as hurtful but that was certainly unintentional, if so. It appears part of me was feeling unduly didactic and patronising. I'm also an incredible arsehole, as I've confessed a number of times and which might also be a factor. But, if I have the power to accidentally hurt you from afar then I do apologise. I've been hurt accidentally (from afar) and hurt many times deliberately in close up (one of my earliest memories is of being beaten unconscious) so I don't bruise as easily as some might. That said I certainly can feel pain and have no wish to inflict it unnecessarily.

I have also learned that pain is one of many teachers.

No, I said you were trying to be hurtful, but it was a pathetic attempt to do the impossible, that naturally failed miserably.

It does pain me to see you make an arse of yourself like this, though. Not the making an arse of yourself per se, but that it is such a poor, little arse-making scene you have presented us with. Like one of those situations where the arse picks a fight with the wrong person, a much bigger arse out of their league.

Oh relax, conniption. We're just having a bit of fun, blowing off some steam. This thread is miles long, I think some side-trips can be allowed now and then. I respect Harvey immensely, otherwise I wouldn't bother getting into it with him.

Is there any evidence that death rates are any higher in India right now than they were in the USA a couple of months ago? I am just wondering about this. I have no idea where to obtain the best available data on the COVID-19 death rates (or that average age of all COVID-19 related deaths) in India? Do you?

Who is suggesting any such thing here, or frankly, in most venues? This continues to be a poor strawman argument, a distortion, and also a continued ignorance of the core issues in contention since 2020.


Also, those that continue to passively accept establishment narratives, figures, or Google/Network News feeds on covid, more than 12 months in -- within this forum no less -- are not worthy of another [wasted] typed word.

I just don't get it. Seriously, the culture is foreign to me, I have no idea what is implied in the post above. What does it mean? I'm genuinely curious.
